Matt Reeves - Assistant Professor
Department of Hydrologic Sciences
Desert Research Institute

Research Interests:

Dr. Reeves’ primary research interests are the numerical simulation of fluid flow and contaminant transport through geologic media and the use of fractional-order derivatives to describe anomalous transport, i.e., fast and slow breakthrough tailing. His most recent work involves the characterization and simulation of flow and radionuclide transport in fractured rock masses. Dr. Reeves is also interested in the role of geologic structures on ground water flow, rock fracture mechanics, statistical analysis of rock fracture data, heterogeneity and upscaling, and processes governing the formation, organization and function of preferential subsurface flow channels within hillslope soils.

Research topics:
3-D Numerical Modeling
Contaminant Transport
Heterogeneous Systems
Hydrogeology
