Research Interests:

Dr. Boyle has 13 years of experience in surface water hydrology. He has extensive experience with the development, application, and calibration of many different hydrologic and hydraulic computer models to perform flash flood forecasting, floodplain analysis, flood frequency analysis. Dr. Boyle’s research interests include the development of new and innovative approaches to estimate parameter values for hydrologic models using multi-criteria global optimization methods, investigation of issues related to model complexity and information content of data, and investigation of new approaches to incorporating high-resolution (both time and space) hydrologic information into hydrologic models in both lumped and semi-distributed applications. He has extended his research methods to other hydrological models (water quality, land-surface atmosphere interaction, and long-range flood/water-supply) through collaborative relationships with several research groups throughout the United States and Europe.
